If there’s one good thing that this COVID-19 lockdown brings, it’s the gift of time at home. Quality time to be with your family, and if you are alone, quality time with yourself.

If you are living alone and find that you’re getting bored and running out of ideas on how to spend your time than swelling your eyes out couch potato-ing and binging on Netflix or spending tons of money playing those game apps (yup, guilty!) then why don’t you try one or more of the activities on this list:

1.Learn something new – Be it cooking a new dish, learning a new language, advancing your knowledge about blockchain…whatever it may be that interests you and never had the time, just do it. So many information are out there and most of them are free. There are loads of free courses on Coursera.com, instructional videos on YouTube, and even mobile apps that cover a multitude of topics to quench your thirst for knowledge.

2.Kondo it – What a great time to do spring cleaning! Open your wardrobe and start feeling each item- does it still spark joy in you? No? Then sort out those that don’t for either throwing away, selling/exchanging, or for giving away to charity. Are you behind on filing a big pile of paperwork on your desk? Do it. Is your dirty laundry full of clothes that can already stand on their own? Wash them. We currently don’t know how long this pandemic will last so if we have to stay home most of the time, wouldn’t it be nice to have a clean and orderly home? Want to learn more about Marie Kondo’s art of tidying up? Watch her show on Netflix or get her books.

3.Rearrange your furniture – In line with spring cleaning, channel that inner interior decorator in you. Move some furniture around to create a different look in your home – your bedroom and living room are probably the best candidates for this. A few shuffling around of furniture might just be what you need for your place to look fresh.

4.Organize your photos and videos – We accumulate hundreds of photos and videos with our smartphones. Do some housekeeping and organize them into albums. You may even choose a few photos for printing into a photo book or for display.

5.Clean your email mailbox and review your email subscriptions – Similar to photos and videos, if you have accumulated emails over time, now is the time to do some housekeeping! Check all your email subscriptions as well and start unsubscribing to those that are no longer relevant to you.

6.Catch up with friends and family – Remotely, that is. Thankfully there’s a ton of ways to stay connected. Be it thru Skype, Facebook messenger, Viber or Whatsapp, don’t let COVID-19 get in the way of keeping in touch with friends and family.

7.Exercise in the comfort of your home – Just because you can’t go out does not mean you can’t work out. You can have a HIIT workout practically anywhere. I have my Body boss workout guide and for some fun short workouts, my go to Youtube channels are The Fitness Marshall and Pop Sugar Fitness.

8.Take that long bath or shower– Exfoliate your face and body, put on a hair mask or treatment, put on a face mask. Make it an extended self pamper session. Aaaah…I’m so envious right now. After showering or sitting in the bath until you become a pickle, do moisturize all over then take a nap. You’re welcome.

9.Catch up on good quality snooze – Not commuting to work today? Sleep a little more. Not going out in the evening to catch up with friends and party? Sleep earlier and longer. When is the last time you had a full 8 hours of sleep? Do it. You’ll feel rested and recharged.

10.Reflect and reevaluate – Your life, that is. I know first quarter is not even over but with so much that has happened, I think it’s about the right time to reflect on your life, recalibrate your goals and maybe adjust some targets that you have set for yourself.

So until the COVID-19 pandemic settles down, do take care and stay at home as much as possible!  These activities should keep you busy and if all else fails, there’s always Netflix…
