Dubbed as Maryang Pinay in Europe, Pamela’s art is deeply anchored on her advocacies. She aims to create art that will unify the Filipino migrants worldwide by highlighting the beauty of Filipino culture and heritage. Also, a proponent of equal opportunity for women, she draws insights from the role of women in our present society. Working in layers, she incorporates motifs drawn from both her own life experiences and from the people around her.
In building her body of work, she developed a faceless geisha, her signature style. Her art eventually took on a textured quality to it. Gotangco often painted soft and feminized figures merged with mixed media that gave her pieces depth and texture. She then set herself up to exhibit her art in platforms most budding artists aspire to be part of: Scope Art Show in Basel, Art International Zurich, Manila Art, Art Takes Times Square (an-out-of-gallery exhibit which turns New York’s billboards into digital canvases); and Art Shopping Carroussel du Louvre, an engagement which the artist regards as a time when her work was displayed in close proximity to the masters of Paris’ Louvre.
Before Pam became a full time artist, she was in the airline industry first as a flight attendant, flight purser and flight service Trainor. Her precious careers included being an IT executive who brought Internet Via Satellite in the Philippines and as a managing director for MNL Magazine in Manila.
Pamela received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Miriam College, Philippines.
She is a recipient of the following awards: Global FWN 100 Most Influential Filipina in 2018, Outstanding Migrant, Artist of the year in 2019, and the Federfil Europe Woman Leadership Award- World CSR Day and World Sustainability 2018.
